Shane Victorino collected 2 extra-base hits and Tommy Hunter mowed down 10
Tacoma batters as the New Dorp Donkeys beat the Tacoma Rainiers by a score of
6 to 2.

Hunter(7-7) had a solid outing for New Dorp. He surrendered 8 hits and 2
walks in 8 innings. Both teams ended up with 9 hits on the night.

Hunter was helped out by Hideki Okajima who recorded his 3rd save. The losing
pitcher was Jonathon Niese(9-9). He got hit hard, allowing 8 hits and 3
walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Hunter was asked about his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd
when you rack up these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running
tally in the stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange -
but it's nice to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'

Mike Aviles knocked 2 homeruns at SAFECO Field as the Gateway Redbirds beat
the Tacoma Rainiers by the count of 3 to 2.

Tacoma found themselves trailing quickly as the Gateway bats came through in
the first inning plating an isolated run. After an out was recorded, Aviles
single-handedly provided a rally, as he belted a solo home run. Tacoma made
it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Armando Galarraga(7-2) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win.
Galarraga got help from Carlos Zambrano who earned his 1st save. Clayton
Richard(9-10) ended up with the loss. He served up 3 homeruns in his 7
innings.

Michael Swanson was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind
of loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've
been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine -
as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'

Clayton Kershaw whitewashed North Carolina on 4 hits at SAFECO Field where the
Tacoma Rainiers beat the North Carolina Knuckleheads in 10 innings 1 to
0.

No runners had crossed home plate after the regulation nine. Tacoma won the
hard fought contest in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Casey
Blake blasted a solo shot making Tacoma the victor and beginning a joyous
home town celebration. Tacoma had only 3 hits for the game.

Kershaw(11-6) went the distance for the shutout. Johan Santana(8-9) suffered
the loss. He gave up only 3 hits and 2 walks in 9 and 1/3 innings.

When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Kershaw offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up
there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it
would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
