At SAFECO Field the Tacoma Rainiers were battered 8 to 3 by the Indian River
Redfish.
Indian River drew first blood jumping out to an early lead in the first inning
as they scored 4 runs on 5 base hits. That early scoring held up. Indian
River had 14 hits for the game and Tacoma had 6.
The victory was credited to Brett Cecil(8-11) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Jon Garland(15-5) was given the loss. He was knocked around
pretty good, giving up 8 runs in 4 innings.
Indian River's manager was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad
streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe
we can relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
