The Tacoma Rainiers got by the hopeless Newport News Builders at SAFECO Field.
The final score was 5 to 3.
 
Brandon McCarthy(13-5) pitched a fine game.  He went 7 innings surrendering 5
hits and 2 walks.  Newport News threatened in the 9th but Tacoma was able to
put down the rally.  
 
McCarthy got relief help from Kyle Farnsworth who gained credit for his 25th
save.  John Danks(5-10) was given the loss.  He allowed 3 runs and 5 hits in
4 innings.
