WEB GEMS- Top 1st: Corey Hart robbed Nick Swisher of an extra base hit.

At SAFECO Field, the Tacoma faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel. Clayton Kershaw(18-9) finally bested his Illinois counterpart, Javier
Vazquez(11-12), by the score of 3 to 0.

Tacoma delivered all the runs required in the 3rd inning scoring 3 runs on 4
base hits. After an out was recorded, Jose Tabata keyed the rally when he
delivered a base-hit. Mike Carp next to the plate and he stroked a single.
Carp took second on the throw. Jamey Carroll then lined a one-base hit.
Carroll took second on the throw. Corey Hart followed and he slapped a
base-hit. That early scoring held up. After the 3rd inning, neither team
was able to score.

Kershaw got relief help from Kyle Farnsworth who gained credit for his 31st
save. Vazquez absorbed the loss. He gave up 3 runs and 10 hits in 6 and 1/3
innings.
